Interview with Mark Howard, Howard Financial planning:
We are Howard Financial Planning (Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management) have been at Kent Enterprise House since January - only 4 months!
We specialise in providing high quality personal advice on many aspects of wealth management (such as financial protection, investment planning, pensions, estate planning etc.) advising clients of widely differing financial resources and of all ages. Additionally, we assist businesses in the increasingly complex area of corporate financial planning too, providing guidance on pensions, protection for directors, key employees or shareholders, tax reliefs and aspects of exit strategy planning.
How are you finding it?
Really good! We received a warm welcome from everybody here and the set up works very well for us.
It's quite flexible here?
Absolutely, we can come and go as we please and we are not restricted to the hours we can work which is really important to us.
And here you are on a bank holiday (interview recorded on Good Friday).
Yes, we need to be flexible with the hours we work to suit our clients and that can include weekends and bank holidays. There is a great feeling of friendliness with everyone here and the choice between open office and individual offices gives flexibility for privacy if needed (as it is with us).
Our requirements for office furniture were immediately satisfied and nothing was too much trouble for the Kent Enterprise Trust staff.
The location being seconds away from the Thanet Way gives us quick access to visit clients which is a real bonus too.
I know the tech set up is good is that something that was key to your decision to come to Kent Enterprise House?
It wasn't one of our main decisions but having moved in now with how smooth it has all gone, now if we were ever to move to a bigger office, which I don' think would be any time soon, it would now be at the forefront of our minds. Seeing how seamless it is just getting everything to work from day one and not having to set anything up. Yes I would put it at the forefront of what we would look for now.
We did have a slight problem when we first came in but Trevor the facilities guy came in and fixed it in 5 minutes! He knew exactly what to do and sorted it out straight away. So if there are any teething problems there will be someone on hand to sort it out immediately.
Do clients ever come to this office?
We wouldn't bring clients into our little office but if we were going to meet a client here we would hire a meeting room. But usually we see clients in their homes.
How important was the location to you?
Very important where this was located was one of our biggest drivers. It's got easy access to the Thanet Way and we are up and down seeing clients from Thanet to Maidstone and we both live in Whitstable only a second away from the Thanet Way and no traffic on the commute. I am home in five minutes!
