Kent Enterprise Trust is looking to appoint a Vice Chair to support and deputise for its new high profile Chair, working with the Board in an exciting period of new projects across Kent. We are a well-established charity based in Herne Bay, Kent for over 30 years running projects that generate an income to support the charity such as Kent Enterprise House Training and Conference Centre. We also have a community garden in Whitstable where we provide horticultural experience and training in our outdoor classroom. We are passionate about creating real opportunities, supporting people to overcome individual challenges, believing everyone deserves the opportunity to build confidence, learn and develop, improving their chances of employment and creating a sustainable lifestyle.

This position is a key roles within our organisation as we are looking towards delivering new projects throughout Kent to increase our social impact, reach and sustainability. All our trustees ensure that there is proper governance to determine strategic direction and ensure the development of its aims, activities and the positions are voluntary requiring a commitment of around two to three days per month.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Deputise for the Chair and represent KET to external stakeholders
- Develop KET as key charity in Kent, identifying growth opportunities such as new contracts, partnerships and services
- Support the executive director on specific projects on areas of expertise
- Attend Board meetings each month and other meetings as required
- Ensure compliance with governing documents, company and charity law and other legislation.
All trustees are required to have up to date DBS checks as part of our standard procedures.
